Police in Muchinga Province have urged members of the public to seek peaceful ways of resolving disputes after a 29-year-old man of Ntindi Village in Chief Waitwika’s area of Nakonde District sustained serious injuries when he was allegedly assaulted by his wife during a violent domestic altercation.

In a statement, Muchinga Province Police Commanding Officer Dennis Moola identified the victim as Michael Mulenga, a clearing agent of Ntindi Village.

Mulenga is reported to have arrived home around 22:30 hours on October 8, 2025, in a drunken state. Upon his arrival, a quarrel ensued with his wife, Rebecca Mutale, aged 20, who confronted him for returning home late.

The argument escalated into a physical fight during which Mutale allegedly bit her husband on the scrotum, ripping open one of his testicles and leaving it exposed.

“Human teeth are believed to have been used to inflict the injury and Mulenga later reported the matter to Nakonde Police Post around 01:30 hours on October 9, 2025, where officers immediately issued him with a medical report form,” Moola said.

He added that the victim was taken to Nakonde Urban Clinic, where he is currently receiving treatment, while police have apprehended the suspect, Rebecca Mutale, who is detained at Nakonde Main Police Station.

Moola said a docket of case for grievous bodily harm has been opened and urged the public to seek non-violent methods of resolving domestic differences.

He stressed that “violence only causes lasting harm to families and communities and should never be seen as a solution to disagreements.”
