What we know about Copper Queens coach, Hauptle’s absence from Malawi tournament

The Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) has clarified the reasons behind Copper Queens Head Coach, Nora Hauptle’s absence from the ongoing three-nation tournament in Malawi, where Assistant Coach, Charles Halubono, has taken charge of the team.

FAZ General Secretary Machacha Shepande said in a statement on Saturday that Hauptle could not travel to Lilongwe because she fell ill in her home country, dispelling speculation that she had parted ways with the association.

Machacha explained that Hauptle, who was scheduled to travel from Sweden, was unable to make the trip due to her condition.

“Coach Nora was supposed to link up with the Copper Queens contingent that had left Lusaka for Lilongwe yesterday, but she informed us that she felt under the weather, making her pull out of the three-nations tournament,” Machacha stated.

Halubono has since been assigned to lead the team during the competition.

FAZ has wished Hauptle a quick recovery as the Copper Queens continue preparations for the WAFCON.
