Some cholera cases have been recorded in Chilanga District through routine monitoring, authorities have confirmed.
So far, 10 cases have been identified, mostly from Game–Sangalala, with isolated cases reported in Game–Kanchenjela, Linda, and Mt. Makulu.
In a statement issued in Chilanga on Friday, Chilanga Town Council Public Relations Officer, Luyando Sikazwa, said no deaths had been recorded and the situation remained under control.
“Chilanga Town Council, working with its partners, has stepped up preventive and public health measures, including community sensitisation and water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH) activities, aimed at preventing further spread,” Sikazwa said.

He appealed to cooperating partners, the private sector, nongovernmental organisations, and well-wishers to support ongoing efforts by donating chlorine, water treatment chemicals, and other protective supplies to strengthen community prevention measures.
Sikazwa further advised members of the public to observe precautionary actions such as boiling or treating drinking water, regular handwashing with soap, proper use of sanitation facilities, and maintaining clean households and surroundings.
He urged Chilanga residents to promptly visit the nearest health facility if they experience diarrhoea or vomiting.
“Chilanga Town Council assures residents that the situation is being closely monitored and encourages everyone to remain calm while adhering to the recommended preventive measures,” Sikazwa said.
