FC Bayern Munich delivered a ruthless performance to defeat Atalanta BC 6–1 on Tuesday in their UEFA Champions League round-of-16 first-leg clash in Bergamo.

Bayern took the lead in the 12th minute when defender Josip Stanišić tapped the ball into the net to give the visitors an early advantage.

The German champions quickly doubled their lead in the 22nd minute through Michael Olise, before Serge Gnabry added a third just three minutes later in the 25th minute.

In a match reported by www.bavarianfootballworks.com, Atalanta struggled to cope with Bayern’s attacking intensity, as the visitors continued to dominate possession and chances.

Early in the second half, Nicolas Jackson extended Bayern’s advantage with a goal in the 52nd minute, putting the result almost beyond doubt.

Olise then grabbed his second goal in the 64th minute, before Jamal Musiala added another in the 67th minute to complete Bayern’s scoring spree.

Atalanta managed a late consolation when Mario Pašalić scored in stoppage time (90+3), but the damage had already been done.

The emphatic win gives Bayern Munich a huge advantage ahead of the second leg and puts them firmly on course for the Champions League quarter-finals.
