Quiet rumblings in FDD as party disowns letter to registrar, says author not its member

There could be quiet rumblings in Forum for Democracy and Development (FDD) as the party has distanced itself from a purported member who has written to the Registrar of Societies challenging the legality of the party’s recently held convention.

In a statement issued on Monday, FDD spokesperson, Anthony Chibuye, dismissed the letter authored by a Mr. Edwin Zgambo, describing it as “null and void.”

“The party wishes to urge the public to ignore this attempt by those who are afraid of FDD and the Tonse Alliance. FDD does not have a member by the name of Edwin Zgambo and does not know such a person,” Chibuye said.

He explained that the FDD Constitution clearly outlined who qualified as a bona fide member of the party.

“The FDD held a properly constituted convention which was attended by all members of our party who formed the quorum,” he said.

Chibuye alleged that individuals intimidated by the party’s growing influence were attempting to discredit it.

“Those who are afraid of FDD are trying very hard to tarnish FDD but our advice is please find better things to do,” he stated.

He added that the party followed all constitutional procedures when holding the convention and would not hesitate to defend itself.

“As FDD we did everything within the bounds of our constitution. Those who are making these attempts must be reminded that FDD stands ready to prove its case and should we be dared further, a lot of people will be bruised and exposed,” Chibuye warned.
