Luapula province courts investors to unlock economic potential

0

Officials in Luapula Province have called on investors and stakeholders to tap into the region’s resources and partnerships to drive sustainable development and job creation.

Provincial Permanent Secretary, Prudence Kangwa, said the province had significant potential across sectors including agriculture, aquaculture, livestock, agro-processing, tourism, mining and energy.

Speaking at the Luapula Investment Expo 2026 in Mansa, Kangwa said the event should serve as a platform for expanding economic opportunities and fostering long-term growth.

She said the expo marked the beginning of a sustained push toward a more industrialised and economically transformed province.

Ireen Chivweta, District Commissioner for Mansa, said the province is committed to creating a conducive investment climate through infrastructure development, support for local enterprises and policies that promote ease of doing business.

“The province is ready to work with investors and partners to unlock opportunities that will create jobs, improve livelihoods and drive inclusive growth,” Chivweta said.

Leevan Chibombwe, Member of Parliament for Bahati, described the expo as an invitation for investors to explore opportunities in key sectors such as mining, energy, agriculture and tourism.

He also pledged support for local contractors and advocacy for policies that prioritise Zambian businesses.

Meanwhile, Njikho Musuku, Mayor of Mansa, urged local entrepreneurs to position themselves strategically and engage with investors to build lasting partnerships.

“The Expo presents an opportunity to showcase the province’s capabilities,” Musuku said.

The Luapula Investment Expo, held under the theme “Unlocking Luapula’s Potential: Investment Opportunities for Sustainable Economic Growth,” took place from April 20 to 24, 2026 at Kaole Stadium.
