Mali reiterated its position in favor of Morocco’s territorial integrity and sovereignty over its entire territory, including the Sahara region while reaffirming its support for the autonomy plan presented by Morocco, as the only credible and realistic solution for the resolution of this regional dispute.”
This position was expressed in the joint statement adopted at the end of the 4th session of the Major Joint Committee on Moroccan-Malian Cooperation, whose work was closed on Friday 24 July 2026 in Bamako, under the co-chairmanship of the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Nasser Bourita, and his Malian counterpart, Abdoulaye Diop.

The joint statement reiterated the support of the Republic of Mali for the efforts of the Secretary-General of the United Nations and his personal envoy, as well as the autonomy plan presented by the Kingdom of Morocco, as the only credible and realistic solution for the resolution of this regional dispute, in accordance with resolution 2797 adopted on 31 October 2025 by the United Nations Security Council.
This position comes in the continuation of the declaration of the Malian government of April 10, 2026, announcing the official withdrawal by Mali of its recognition of the so called separatist entity “sadr”.
