Former UPND Lusaka mayoral candidate, Chitambala Mwewa, has begun removing political campaign posters from public spaces across Lusaka following his defeat in the 2026 general elections.
In a post shared on his Facebook page, Mwewa said he had started cleaning up campaign materials by removing posters from poles, trees and public buildings, fulfilling a pledge to restore the city’s public spaces after the election.
The clean-up exercise comes after Mwewa reportedly lost the Lusaka mayoral race to National Restoration Party–United Party (NRPUP) candidate, Gabriel Kibombwe.

Mwewa’s move has drawn attention on social media, with some users praising the initiative as an example of responsible political conduct after the conclusion of the campaign period.
Election campaign posters are often left displayed long after polls have closed, contributing to visual pollution in many parts of the capital.
