Africa making impressive strides in adoption of digital technology —Minister Mutati

Technology and Science Minister, Felix Mutati, says Africa has made impressive strides in digital transformation which have positioned it as a leader in the adoption of digital technologies.

Mutati said various governments on the continent have prioritised the development of digital economies and services by launching various initiatives aimed at fostering innovation and entrepreneurship.

The minister made these remarks during Africa’s Digital Transformation Summit in Nairobi, Kenya, on Saturday.

The summit aimed at underscoring the relevance of a digital economy and development.

Mutati added that multiple governments were expediting the transformation of their nations to foster a better, smarter, more inclusive and sustainable digital Africa.

He underscored that policymakers were committed to ensuring inclusivity in e-government and digitalization processes, with many African countries implementing national digital government strategies and enacting legislation concerning cybersecurity, data protection and innovation.

He noted that the summit offered a platform for African leaders, investors, and businesses to unite and capitalize on the abundant opportunities offered by the digital economy, all while tackling barriers and urgent issues affecting their economies.
