The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) in Chinsali has arrested and charged a planner at the Shiwang’andu District Health Office for alleged corrupt practices involving K50,000.
Nicodemus Kalasani, 46, of Teleni Village in Shiwang’andu District, faces one count of Conflict of Interest contrary to Section 19 (3) (b) of the Public Procurement Act No. 8 of 2020 as read together with Sections 19(9) and 107 of the same Act.
In a statement issued in Lusaka on Monday, ACC Head of Corperate Communications, Joseph Mwenya, said investigations established that between November 1, 2023 and June 30, 2024, Kalasani failed to disclose his indirect pecuniary interest while serving as a public officer at the district health office.

Mwenya said the matter related to a procurement process for the supply of tools and equipment for Community-Based Volunteers at the Shiwang’andu District Health Office under the Ministry of Health.
“The investigations further established that the owner of the said company is a friend of Nicodemus Kalasani and that the company remitted money into his bank account following each successful contract,” he stated.
Kalasani has since been released on bond and is expected to appear in court soon.
