‘Be Zambia’s ambassadors,’ Stanchart CEO, Zulu, urges citizens to promote country’s investment opportunities

Standard Chartered Bank Zambia has called on citizens to actively promote the country’s investment opportunities by speaking positively and carrying a message of promise about Zambia.

The bank’s Chief Executive Officer, Sonny Zulu, said this when he donated K500,000 towards the upcoming Invest Zambia International Conference (IZIC), organised by the Zambia Development Agency (ZDA), set for July 26–28, 2025.

Speaking when handing over the cheque in Lusaka on Wednesday, Zulu urged all stakeholders to become ambassadors for Zambia’s investment prospects.

“Marketing Zambia goes beyond hosting conferences and printing brochures. It’s about how we speak about each other, how we conduct ourselves, and how we share Zambia’s story with the world,” Zulu said.

He commended the ZDA for organising the conference, which he described as a vital platform for attracting investment and showcasing the country’s potential.

ZDA Director-General, Albert Halwampa, who received the donation, said the conference would focus on key sectors including mining, energy, agriculture, tourism, and infrastructure — all prioritised under the Eighth National Development Plan (8NDP).

Halwampa also acknowledged President Hakainde Hichilema’s efforts in marketing Zambia globally, which have led to increased investor interest.

“The IZIC will consolidate investment leads and opportunities into tangible jobs and wealth for Zambians. We are delighted to have Standard Chartered Bank partnering with us in this effort, and we look forward to a lasting relationship,” he said.
