Body found floating in Mansa river in a suspected suicide case

Police in Mansa, Luapula province have disclosed that Francis Kapili’s body was found floating in  Mansa river.

The  30-year-old man of Mansa  who went missing a few days after the death of his girlfriend has been found dead in the Mansa river.

Luapula Police Chief Gloria Mulele said  in a statement on Sunday that Kapili’s body was found floating on the river after he went missing.

Mulele said Mr Kapili went missing last Thursday around 07:00 hours a day after he received a call from the late girlfriend’s father commanding him to go to his place without fail.

She said Kapili’s mood changed after the call and a few minutes later he left a note in his bedroom informing his family that they will find him at a pressure resort near Mansa river.

“Mr Kapili’s girlfriend died on an unknown date this month at Mansa General Hospital and he did not go for her funeral. Mr Kapili’s cousin found a note that his family members would find him at a pressure resort near Mansa river,” Mulele said.

A search for  Kapili was conducted but to no avail.

But on Saturday around 11:00 hours his body was found floating on the river by Webster Mwanza 38 who was crossing the river.

The  body was retrieved and taken to Mansa General Hospital Mortuary for post-mortem.
