EFF leader, Mwenda, arrested alongside others for unlawful assembly

Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) Kasonde Mwenda is reportedly in police custody for unlawful procession.

According to a video clip posted on his official social media handle on Friday, the youthful party leader together with Golden Party of Zambia (GPZ) leader Jackson Silavwe were heard negotiating with the police who came to stop the demonstration.

“We have been arrested by the police, we are in police custody,” Mwenda confirmed in a social media post.

According to the video clip, the placard carrying protesters led by Mwenda decried the recent signing of the concession agreement for the construction of   Lusaka-Ndola dual carriageway.

Police in riot gear reportedly pounced on Mwenda who led a group of protesters at Lusaka’s Civic Centre.
