Police in Lusaka have charged and arrested Patriotic Front (PF) Vice president, Given Lubinda, aged 60 of Hillview Park for the offence of failure to appear before the Committee and National Assembly.

Deputy Police Public Relations Officer, Danny Mwale, said this is contrary to section 11A of amendment Act Number 13 of 2016 of chapter 12 of the National Assembly Act of the Laws of Zambia.

Mwale in a statement issued on Monday in Lusaka said it is alleged that Mr. Lubinda was summoned to appear before the Assembly and Committee on Privileges and Absences.

He said without reasonable cause, Mr. Lubinda failed to attend or adhere to the summons issued to him to appear on the date, time and place mentioned in the summons.

“This occurred between December 2021 and June 14, 2022 in Lusaka,” Mwale said.

He said Mr. Lubinda is detained in Police custody waiting to appear in court.
