Chibesakunda listed among 50 women speakers, as 7000 gather for Mining Indaba in S’Africa

More than 7,000 delegates and fifty female speakers are expected in Cape Town, South Africa for the Investing in African Mining Indaba planned for February 6.

Zambia National Commercial Bank Chief Executive Officer Mukwandi Chibesakunda is listed as one of the top female speakers.

The gathering, comprising leading mining companies, investors and governments, presents an opportunity to encourage organisations to take the necessary steps to make gender diversity in the mining industry a reality.

This is according to Investing in African Mining Indaba Portfolio Director Simon Ford in a statement on Wednesday.

Ford said the 2023 programme would see an exciting lineup of over 50 female speakers from around the world, including the President of Ivanhoe Mines and one of the 100 Global Inspirational Women in Mining, Marna Cloete and Zambia National Commercial Bank Chief Executive Officer Mukwandi Chibesakunda.

Furthermore, the Investing in African Mining Indaba would partner with International Women in Mining (IWiM) on how women are inspiring the next generation of talent through their ever increasing impact on the mining industry.

At the same event, Zambia’s Mines Minister Paul Kabuswe would also share insights in the battery metals and nickel plant that Zambia and the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) are planning to set up for production of Electric Vehicles.

Other notable institutions expected to attend include ZCCM-Investment Holdings, Zambia Chamber of Mines and it’s members as well as Stanbic Bank Zambia.

Every year the mining companies, governments and investors across the global including Zambia gather in Cape Town, South Africa for the Investing in the African Mining Indaba.

This year’s events takes place in Cape Town from 6-9 February 2023.
