Paramount Chief, Chitimukulu, has announced the cancellation of 2026 Ukusefya-Pa Ng’wena Bemba traditional ceremony citing the ‘prevailing mood’ to allow for celebrations of that nature.

Secretary to the Chitimukulu, Richard Mukuka, said in the statement on Friday that the 2026 ceremony had been pushed to next year by the Chitimukulu royal council.

“The royal council observed that the prevailing mood in Ulubemba(Bemba Kingdom) is not conducive for Ukusefya(celebrate festivities), therefore, the Bemba Royal Establishment (BRE) has cancelled the earlier planned September 17-19, 2026 Ukusefya-Pa Ng’wena forthwith,” Mukuka said.

He assured that all sponsorships and donations that had been made towards the hosting of the ceremony shall be transferred to and accounted for by next year’s ceremony.

Mukuka regretted the inconvenience the development had caused by the cancellation.
