Court told Lumezi law maker, Zulu, unwell to continue trial

Trial in a matter in which Independent Member of Parliament for Lumezi Constituency, Munir Zulu, is accused of defaming Finance and National Planning Minister, Situmbeko Musokotwane, alleging that he received US$250,000.00 through a bank transfer from an unknown company has failed to take off at the Lusaka Magistrate Court.

This was after Zulu, through his lawyer, Nkula Botha, on Friday informed the court that he could not proceed with the matter because he was unwell and needed to go to the hospital.

Zulu is facing three counts of libel contrary to Section 191 of the Penal Code Chapter 87 of the Laws of Zambia.

It is also alleged that Zulu unlawfully did publish defamatory matters against the Infrastructure, Housing and Urban Development Minister, Charles Milupi, by way of a press conference in which he said he corruptly received money amounting to US$250, 000.00 through a bank transfer from an unknown company.

Lastly, Zulu is alleged to have on March 21, 2023 in Lusaka, with intent to defame, published defamatory matters against Mulchad.
