Feature film, ‘The Law and My Freedom,’ to hit the screens soon

The Zambia Army is currently working on a feature film titled “The Law and My Freedom,” a movie to be used in upholding national sovereignty and the maintenance of peace in the country.

As a build up, the Army, held a film production workshop on Saturday in collaboration with COMTECH at the Zambia Army Headquarters in Lusaka.

Director General, Civil and Military Affairs (CMA) Branch, Brigadier General Luswepo Sinyiza, explained that the project supported Zambia Army’s mission to uphold national sovereignty and the maintenance of peace.

“Zambia Army’s participation in the project complements the national film policy, theatre and cinematography exhibition act of the laws of Zambia in promoting the country’s film industry for sustainable national social- economic development,” Sinyiza said.

During the same workshop, Emmanuel Kawina, Writer and Producer of the much-awaited movie thanked MICA directorate for the help rendered to him during pre-production phase.

Kawina said different turbulences experienced in the recent past such as the gassing incidents and the horrors of the Tokota Boys inspired him to produce a feature film that would discourage would-be perpetrators of such vices.

MICA Director, Florence Mulenga, said: “the Army is open to offer further guidance to the production team when need be, during the production phase and further encouraged the actors to remain focused and discipline in order to execute their roles successfully.”
