Milenge tenager hangs self, motive unknown

Police has recorded a suicide case in Luapula Province where a teenager in Milenge district has committed suicide by hanging himself on the roof of the house using a piece of cloth in unclear circumstances.

Luapula Province commanding officer Gloria Mulele said Clever Chikomba took his life on Wednesday around 06:00 hours.

She said Mr Chikomba was found dead by his housemate Moses Kapya and the reason for his action is still unknown.

Mulele explained that on the material day Kapya, a pupil at Milenge Primary School, went to school leaving Chikomba at home.

“Kapya went to school leaving his friend at home and when he knocked off he proceeded to his mother’s place and left around 23:00 hours
after having supper. When he went back to Chikomba’s place he found him hanging dead in the sitting room,” she said.

Mulele said shortly after he noticed that Chikomba was dead Kapya called
the police and reported the matter.

She said police officers who rushed to the scene found the body hanging with his legs slightly on the ground.

She said the family was advised to bury saying no foul play was suspected in the suicide.
