A 49-year-old man, identified as Patrick Champolela, popularly known as Choga, has been murdered and buried inside a two-roomed mud structure that was being used as a shop in Kapiri Mposhi District, Central Province.
According to police, the incident is suspected to have occurred between March and October 11, 2025, in Lunda Village of Kapiri Mposhi District.
Central Province Police Commissioner, Charity Munganga, confirmed the incident in a statement issued in Kabwe on Tuesday.
Munganga said the deceased had gone missing in March 2025, but his friend, 22-year-old Shadrick Tembo, was in possession of the shop key.
“Since August 2025, he has, on several occasions, been seen opening and closing the same shop where the body was found,” she said.

She explained that the body was discovered on October 10 by a new tenant who had gone to clean up the premises.
“The body was found in a decomposed state, with both legs protruding from a shallow grave and tied with a green chitenge material,” Munganga added.
She said investigations have since been launched into the matter.
“Shadrick Tembo has been detained while the body of the deceased has remained in the shop awaiting exhumation and postmortem,” said Munganga.
