Mwinilunga boy, 5, drowns in flood waters

A boy in Mwinilunga, North-Western Province aged five has  drowned in the flood waters.

The incident happened while the boy was swimming with friends, North-Western Police Chief Dennis Moola said.

In a statement issued on Tuesday in Kitwe, Moola said the incident happened on Tuesday around 16:00 hours in Kashinakazhi area.

He said Den Masumba 65 reported that his grandson Given Samuneti drowned in the flood waters while swimming with friends.

Moola said on the material day the juvenile in the company of his friends went for swimming in flood waters and after sometime his friends returned home without him.

He said the children reported the matter to his parents who went to search for the missing child and found the lifeless body in the flood waters.

Moola said the body was in Mwinilunga district hospital mortuary and the relatives had been advised to bury, since no foul play was suspected.
