The Zambia Wake-up Party (ZAWAPA) has called on the Electoral Commission of Zambia (ECZ) to immediately release and publicly communicate the complete list of the 70 newly created constituencies, including a clear explanation of how each one was delimited.
ZAWAPA president, Howard Kunda, issued the demand on Tuesday, saying the ECZ’s continued silence was creating unnecessary uncertainty as the country moved closer to the August 13, 2026 general elections.
Kunda said his party—like many other stakeholders—had not been officially provided with details regarding the new constituencies that were expected to be added to the existing 156.
“How can we, as political parties and as a nation, proceed into an election without knowing which of the 70 constituencies have been delimited and added on?” — he said.
Kunda expressed deep concern over what he described as the ECZ’s lack of transparency, especially with only 30 days remaining before Parliament is dissolved.

He alleged that the Commission’s conduct raised questions about whether the newly delimited constituencies were intended to benefit a particular political party.
Kunda further questioned why the ECZ had failed to share essential information with stakeholders in a timely manner.
“Such conduct undermines confidence in the electoral process and risks eroding public trust in our democracy,” he added.
Kunda emphasized that elections must be run in a fair, transparent, and accountable manner, warning that anything short of that would be a betrayal of the Zambian people.
He urged the ECZ to uphold integrity and impartiality, saying Zambians deserved clarity, not confusion, as the nation heads toward the 2026 polls.
