A 25-year-old man of Lusaka’s Kanyama area has been arrested for defiling a girl, aged 13, of the same area, Police officials say.

Police Spokesperson, Rae Hamoonga, said on November 7, 2023, at around 18:00 hours, the victim who was in the company of a friend was sent to Masauko Market within Kanyama by her mother.

Hamoonga in a statement issued in Lusaka on Thursday said whilst there, they came across a group of male adults who were drinking beer at a named bar.

He said among the group, Julius Kalola, aged 25, of the same compound, decided to follow the girls behind and managed to get hold of the victim.

“He took her to his house, defiled her and upon seeing that the friend was forcefully taken, the other friend rushed home and reported to the victim’s mother about what had transpired,” Hamoonga said.

He said the suspect was in custody waiting to appear in court.
