Police find body of decomposing man in Kalumbila

Kalumbila District of North-Western Province has recorded a report of sudden and unnatural  death of a 51-year-old man identified as Kankasa Kapiji was found dead in his motor vehicle.

Police were alerted and quickly rushed to the scene where they found the deceased in a seated position on the rear passanger seat of the Ford Explorer registration number ATB 3120.

Upon inspection, Police said the body was swollen and in a decomposed state.

Police also discovered two empty bottles suspected to be of doom insecticide in the said motor vehicle.

Deputy Police Public Relations Officer Danny Mwale said  in a statement  on Monday that  the body of the deceased was discovered on January 8, 2023 around 15:00 hours inside the said motor vehicle which was parked at a named Guest House in Kakaindu area of Kalumbila district.

He was last seen in Solwezi on January 4, 2023 around 23:00 hours.

“Police initial investigations indicate that the deceased had booked a room at a named guest house where he is alleged to have spent one night,” Mwale stated.

Further investigations also indicate that the motor vehicle, Ford Explorer belonged to the deceased.

Kankasa is believed to have been the owner of Buffalo Wings located in Solwezi District.

The body of the deceased was later taken to Solwezi General Hospital for postmortem and burial.

He said police have opened an inquiry file into the matter.
