Police have confirmed the arrest and detention of former Mike Manda, 45, in connection with an alleged cyber-harassment offence.

The arrest comes after days of public speculation following reports of offensive material circulating on a Facebook page bearing his name.

According to Zambia Police Service Public Relations Officer, Godfrey Chilabi, the former district commissioner has been detained for an offence of harassment and humiliation, contrary to Section 22 of the Cyber Crimes Act No. 4 of 2025.

Chilabi said in a statement issued on Saturday that the detention follows investigations into alleged harassing and humiliating content posted on a Facebook account identified as “Mike Manda.”

“Mr. Manda is currently in lawful custody, and investigations are ongoing,” Chilabi stated.

He added that a more detailed update on the case would be provided in due course.

The arrest took place in Mufulira, where Manda previously served as District Commissioner.
