President Hichilema fires Zambia Public Procurement Authority boss, Chella

President Hakainde Hichilema has terminated the appointment of Idah Chella as Director General of the Zambia Public Procurement Authority with immediate effect.

State House Communications Specialist, Clayson Hamasaka, said the action by the President was pursuant to Article 270 of the Constitution of Zambia.

Hamasaka said this in a statement issued in Lusaka on Thursday evening.

“The President thanks Mrs. Chella for the service rendered to the people of Zambia, the Government of the Republic of Zambia and wishes her well in her future endeavors,” he said.

Prior to her appointment, Chella was ZPPA Director of Human Resources and Administration.

She served in various portfolios in the Zambia National Tender Board for over 20 years.

Chella took over from Christopher Chichoni who served as Director General until October, 5, 2020.
