Technical appraisals of 2023 CDF projects commences in Monze District

Monze District has started technical appraisals to assess vability of the 2023 newly proposed projects to be supported under the Constituency Development Fund (CDF).

The assessment being done by the Monze District CDF’s Technical Appraisal teams for the three Constituencies is also meant to ensure that past mistakes were not repeated.

Monze has three Constituencies namely Monze Central, Bweengwa and Moomba Constituencies hence receives a sizeable amount of money in CDF allocations.

The Technical teams include technocrats from different District Departments, Council Officers and Committee Chairpersons from CDF Committees.

According to Monze Constituency CDFC Chairperson Vinoria Chilala, the team was not only assessing the viability of the newly proposed projects but alsi trying to ensure that past mistakes of allocating insufficient funds to projects was avoided.

Chilala said the team was also assessing incomplete projects to ensure that enough funds were made available to complete the projects and avoid having white elephants in the communities.

“The CDFCs have learnt lessons from the year before in which they were not properly oriented hence allocated resources equally to all the wards a Constituency without considering the costs and that the approach has changed as the Committees will allocate enough resources to ensure that projects are completed in time.

“Project appraisal is the process of assessing, in a structured way, the case for proceeding with a project or proposal, or the project’s viability,” she said in a statement issued on Friday.

The technical appraisal teams which include officials from Community Development, District Education Board, District Health Department, Live Stock Services and District Agriculture are touring sites earmarked for new projects as well as incomplete projects in the wards across the three Constituencies of Monze District.
