Tonse Alliance presidential spokesperson and Patriotic Front Legal Chairperson, George Chisanga, says Tonse Alliance president, Brian Mundubile, has been detained at Ibex Police Station in Lusaka under unclear circumstances.
Mundubile was reportedly blocked from leaving the country and taken to Ibex Police Station, where he continued to be held as supporters gathered at the premises.
In a media briefing on Thursday night, Chisanga confirmed that Mundubile was apprehended at Kenneth Kaunda International Airport as he prepared to travel.

“President Mundubile was removed from the passenger list prior to departure, and when legal assistance was sought, his lawyers were initially denied access to him,” Chisanga said.
He added that Mundubile was held for about four hours and subjected to questioning over the purpose of his trip.
According to Chisanga, the interrogation included questions about individuals Mundubile planned to meet, with names such as Chief Mwata Kazembe and other prominent figures allegedly mentioned.
The Zambia Police Service has not yet issued an official statement on the matter.
