Atlas Mara has urged farmers to utilise the financial services offered under agency banking to transact and access their farming inputs.

This is in a bid to take financial services closer to the people, Head- Branch Distribution Agatha Yowela said on Wednesday in Gwembe district, Southern province.

Yowela said farmers in the district can now receive the Farmers Input Support Programme (FISP) through the agency banking, stating that they don’t have to walk long distances to access financial services.

She said these services can be accessed through their Tenga Express Agent, which were spreadout across the country.

Yowela explained that agency banking was a model introduced by the bank to serve the unbanked and underbanked communities throughout the country.

This model, she said would benefit the communities of Gwembe especially the farmers who queue up to access basic financial services as well as farming inputs.

Yowela said these also included receipted deposits, withdrawals, account opening and other services that would be rolled out in due course.

“This is yet another exciting revolutionary product and service that further integrates financial services,” she said.

Yowela indicated that the bank was pleased to offer a one-stop solution in Gwembe district, Munyumbwe area, Southern Province through its agency banking services, which would cater for people from all walks of life.

Additionally, she said, customers would not be required to visit the branches to transact.

And Gwembe District Member of Parliament, Tyson Simuzingili, said the agent banking would significantly expand access to financial services in the district for the communities.

Simuzingali said this solution was intended to reduce entry barriers and increase financial inclusion.

“Therefore, I want to use this opportunity to thank Atlas Mara for contributing to this success story

“I would like to urge the communities in Gwembe District to utilise these services, and we can only do so through community mutual trust relationships and, most importantly, our people will have a financial history as they transact,” he said
