Lusaka Magistrate, Mutinta Mwenya, has ordered the detention of Lumezi Independent Member of Parliament, Munir Zulu, and his Chilubi counterpart, Mulenga Fube, after the duo failed to present ex-political advisor, Kaizer Zulu, before Court.

The two sureties released from custody was upon payment of K50,000 each.

This is in a matter in which Zulu was charged with one count of conversion not amounting to theft.

It was alleged that between November 19, 2019 and March 25, 2022, in Lusaka, he unlawfully and without claim of right, did convert to his use, a motor vehicle registration number GRZ 759.

Zulu, a political advisor to former President Edgar Lungu, had been on the run for over six months.

When the matter came up for return of bench warrant, Magistrate Mwenya told off the two sureties that she had given them enough time to find the accused.

“You promised to bring him. In the last court session you assured me that you will present the accused before me. What you are telling me now, you already said this in the previous court session,” she said.

Munir m, however, requested for the matter to be moved in Chambers to avoid jeopardising the search.

He said progress had been made to find the accused.

But after a chamber session, the two were detained in police cells at the Magistrates’court.
