Chipolopolo Coach, Avram Grant, has named a 32-member provisional squad for the 2024 TotalEnergies African Nations Championship (CHAN) to be co-hosted by Kenya, Tanzania, and Uganda.

Grant who will be overseeing the CHAN project as part of preparations for the FIFA World Cup qualifiers and the TotalEnergies CAF AFCON Morocco 2025 tournament has blended experience and youthfulness in his squad that will face off with hosts Kenya, Angola, Congo DR and Morocco.

The team will commence its local camp on Sunday with training starting on Monday before heading to East Africa for a pre-tournament camp.

Zambia’s preparations for the CHAN have included a phased approach that saw the players involved in some local camps and participation in the regional Cosafa Senior Challenge Cup.

Zambia will be making its fifth appearance at the CHAN with its best finish being the 2009 edition where the Chipolopolo earned bronze.

The CHAN will run from 2-30 August with the groups spread across three nations.

Zambia’s previous appearances were in 2009, 2016, 2018 and 2020.

The Chipolopolo will commence their Group A race with a match against Congo DR on August 7 before engaging Angola three days later.

The third tussle will see Zambia renew its rivalry with Morocco on August 14 before winding down their group games with Kenya three days later.
