Police identify body of Copperbelt University final-year medical student found with missing body parts

Police have identified the body of a person found with missing body parts in Kitwe as Fred Kapuku, a final-year medical student at Copperbelt University (CBU).

Copperbelt Police Commissioner, Pathias Siandenge, confirmed in a statement on Tuesday that Kapuku, aged 34, was discovered in a black trunk in the Chiminwa area of Lima Posa Ward, with his head and both legs missing.

The missing body parts were later found near Hillcrest Clinic in Ndola.

According to Kapuku’s girlfriend, he was last seen on Saturday, August 16, 2025, driving a black Toyota Mark X with registration number BCG 7441, which is still missing, along with his phone.

Siandenge stated that investigations had been intensified to bring those responsible to justice.

In a separate statement, CBU management confirmed the tragic incident, describing Kapuku as a humble, dedicated, and promising young leader whose life was cut short in a heartbreaking manner.

“His loss is not only felt by his family but also by the entire University community and the nation at large,” the University said.
