Police in Lusaka have launched investigations into a case of robbery, coupled with a felony, at AKZ Mall in Chalala.
The incident occurred on October 11, 2025, around 05:00 hours, when unknown criminals broke into a shop owned by Shula Beleshi of Chalala, making off with assorted goods valued at K456,500.
Police Spokesperson, Rae Hamoonga, said officers from Chilenje Police Station, through Mary Mwango Police Post, were leading the investigations.
Preliminary findings indicate that five masked suspects gained entry by cutting the shop’s burglar bars.
“Two of the suspects were reportedly armed with unidentified firearms, while one stood guard at the gate,” Hamoonga said.
The criminals are believed to have used a motor vehicle, although its registration number is yet to be established.
“Stolen items include one safe valued at K30,000; six SVC Combo Batteries valued at K238,140; one 6KVA inverter valued at K8,640; five 6P inverters valued at K55,100; three 11KVA inverters valued at K72,360; and nine UPS mini power banks valued at K13,500,” he said.

Additionally, phone accessories valued at K5,000 and ten WiFi routers valued at K6,000 were taken, bringing the total value of stolen property to K456,500.
“The Zambia Police Service has since launched a manhunt for the suspects behind this act and wishes to appeal to members of the public to remain alert and report to the nearest police station or post any person found selling such items or suspected to be in possession of the same,” Hamoonga added.
He also urged business owners to enhance security at their premises by hiring guards, installing alarm systems, and ensuring adequate alternative lighting, such as solar lights, around their properties.
“Investigations in this matter have been instituted, and more updates will be provided as they become available,” Hamoonga said.
