The Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) has mutually separated with Chipolopolo coach, Avram Grant.

FAZ General Secretary Machacha Shepande said both parties agreed to part ways amicably in order to chart a new direction for the senior men’s national football team.

This is according to a statement issued in Lusaka on Wednesday by FAZ Head of Media and Communications, Nkweto Tembwe.

“The Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) has agreed to mutually separate with Zambia Senior Men’s National Team coach Avram Grant.

“The two parties agreed to mutually separate with FAZ wishing Mr. Grant the best of luck in his future endeavours,” Shepande said.

He added that further details regarding the separation would be communicated in due course.

“For now, we can only thank Mr. Grant for his contribution to the Zambian game. FAZ appointed Grant as head coach on December 22, 2022, on a two-year deal,” he said.

Grant, who took charge of the Chipolopolo in December 2022, led Zambia to two consecutive qualifications for the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) — the 2024 and 2025/26 editions.

Zambia is expected to participate in the Morocco 2025 AFCON tournament, where the Chipolopolo are placed in Group A alongside Morocco, Mali and Comoros.
