His Majesty King of Morocco, Mohammed VI, on Friday 31 October 2025, delivered a Speech to His faithful people, following the historic vote at the UN Security Council in favor of the Moroccan autonomy initiative, stressing that “there will be a before and an after October 31, 2025”.

At the heart of the Royal address was the reaffirmation of the framework for a resolution, namely the Autonomy Initiative. The King stated that Morocco will “update and refine” this proposal in detail before submitting it to the United Nations, while emphasizing that, as a “realistic and applicable” solution, it must constitute the sole basis for negotiations.
According to His Majesty, the new UN resolution outlines the “principles and foundations” likely to lead to a definitive political settlement, “in strict respect for Morocco’s legitimate rights.”

In a highly symbolic gesture, the King Mohammed VI proclaimed “the era of a united Morocco stretching from Tangier to Lagouira,” while warning that no one would be tolerated for “trampling on rights” or “transgressing historical borders.” The Sovereign emphasized that the momentum initiated in recent years “has begun to bear fruit,” while affirming that two-thirds of the United Nations (UN) member states now consider autonomy as the only relevant framework for resolving the dispute.

His Majesty King Mohammed VI emphasized the “extension” of recognition of Morocco’s economic sovereignty over its southern provinces, mentioning the incentives for investment and trade offered by major powers and international organizations, including the United States of America, France, Great Britain, Russia, Spain, and the European Union. He stressed that these advantages enable the southern provinces to establish themselves as a “hub of development and stability” for the entire Sahel-Saharan region.

The King expressed special appreciation for the United States of America, commending the leadership of “Our Friend, His Excellency President Donald Trump,” and conveyed His gratitude to France, Great Britain, Spain, as well as to the “brotherly” Arab and African countries and all states supporting the Autonomy Initiative. While noting “positive developments,” King Mohammed VI stressed the need to reach a resolution that preserves the interests of all parties, “without victors or vanquished.”

He made a “sincere” appeal to the populations of the Tindouf camps to “seize this historic opportunity” and rejoin their families, while emphasizing the equality of rights for all citizens, including those returning from the camps.

The King of Morocco also invited President Abdelmadjid Tebboune to a “fraternal dialogue” between Morocco and Algeria, aimed at “laying the foundations for new relations” based on trust, fraternity, and good neighborliness, thus reaffirming the Kingdom’s commitment to fostering the revitalization of the Maghreb Union.

As the fiftieth anniversary of the Green March and the seventieth anniversary of Independence approach, the Sovereign expressed his profound gratitude to the Royal Armed Forces and all security forces, highlighting their contribution to defending national unity and preserving stability. He also paid tribute to the memory of the late His Majesty King Hassan II, “Architect of the Green March,” as well as to that of “all the valiant martyrs of the Nation.”
