Chelsea cruise past Wolves to go second in premier league

Chelsea bounced back from their midweek Champions League frustration with a commanding 3-0 victory over Wolves in the Premier League.

The Blues, who were held 2-2 by Qarabag in Azerbaijan, wasted no time returning to winning ways against their managerless opponents.

In a match reported by The Standard, Malo Gusto opened the scoring with his first-ever senior goal, heading in Alejandro Garnacho’s clever cross in the 51st minute. Substitute Willian Estevão made an instant impact, darting to the byline to set up compatriot João Pedro for Chelsea’s second on 65 minutes.

The Brazilian continued his fine form, netting for the second successive game after scoring the decisive goal in last weekend’s 1-0 win over Tottenham.

Pedro Neto sealed the win in the 73rd minute, tapping home against his former club after Garnacho’s blistering run and composed assist.

Enzo Fernández was pivotal in midfield, orchestrating play with precise passing and testing goalkeeper Sam Johnstone with a fierce free kick and a bouncing half-volley in the first half. Liam Delap, making his first start since his August injury, endured a quiet outing before being replaced by Estevão.

Another assured performance sees the West London side climb to second in the Premier League table as they continue their push for consistency — a trait many say their youthful squad lacks.

“They won’t care about that, however. They’re up to second in the Premier League table.”
