Tottenham Hotspur secured a 2–0 victory over Eintracht Frankfurt at Deutsche Bank Park on Wednesday night to book their place in the UEFA Champions League Round of 16 and finishing fourth in a competitive group.

The decisive breakthrough came just after halftime when Randal Kolo Muani scored in the 47th minute, bundling the ball home from close range after Xavi Simons’ cross was headed across goal.

According to SkySports, Tottenham doubled their advantage in the 77th minute through Dominic Solanke, who reacted first to a loose ball inside the box and slotted a composed finish into the bottom corner to seal the win.

The first half was cagey, with both teams missing early chances and goalscorers ruled offside, leaving the score goalless at the break despite Tottenham enjoying more possession and territory.

Tottenham’s win completes a strong European campaign for manager Thomas Frank’s side, who reached the last 16 despite mixed domestic form, finishing the group with 17 points and six clean sheets from eight games.

Frankfurt who were already eliminated before kickoff struggled to impose themselves in the match, creating few clear opportunities and seeing their hopes of a late resurgence vanish after Solanke’s goal.
Spurs dominated key statistical areas, finishing with more shots and territorial control, and their solid defensive performance ensured Frankfurt failed to register a goal at home.

The result gives Tottenham the advantage of hosting the second leg of their round of 16 tie at home in the March knockout phase, with opponents to be determined in Friday’s Champions League draw.
