Police in Lusaka say a couple of Kabanana compound, identified as Amos Bwalya, 29, and Felistus Mulenga, 24, have been electrocuted to death.
In a statement issued on Friday, Police Spokesperson, Godfrey Chilabi, said the report was received at Kabanana Police Post around 12:30 hours.
Preliminary investigations indicate that Mulenga was washing clothes outside the house and attempted to hang them on a drying wire that was connected to iron roofing sheets. In the process, she was electrocuted.
“Bwalya, who was inside the house at the time, rushed to assist her and was also electrocuted,” Chilabi said.
He stated that both victims were rushed to the hospital, where they were pronounced dead upon arrival.
Police officers visited the scene, and ZESCO Limited was notified and subsequently disconnected the power supply.

“The bodies have since been deposited at the University Teaching Hospital (UTH) Mortuary, where post-mortem examinations are pending,” Chilabi said.
He added that an inquiry file had been opened and investigations into the matter were ongoing.
Meanwhile, Chilabi denied a false and misleading report circulating on social media, alleging that 18 people, including two police officers, were shot dead in Mufumbwe District by military personnel.
“The Zambia Police Service wishes to state that no such incident has been recorded in Mufumbwe District or any other part of the country,” he said.
He urged members of the public to disregard what he described as a fabricated and malicious report aimed at misleading the nation.
Chilabi also warned that the creation, publication, and transmission of deceptive information is an offence punishable under the Cyber Crimes Act No. 4 of 2025.
Investigations have since been instituted, and the matter is being pursued.
