Brentford recorded a surprise 1–0 away victory at Aston Villa in Premier League action on Sunday, denting the hosts’ title aspirations and providing a huge boost for the Bees’ campaign.

Dango Ouattara scored the decisive goal just before halftime to give Brentford all three points.

The lone goal came in first-half stoppage time, with Dango Ouattara finding the net in the 45+1st minute after Brentford capitalised on a period of sustained pressure inside Villa’s penalty area.

Sky Sports reported that the victory was made even more remarkable for Brentford after forward Kevin Schade was sent off in the 42nd minute for an off-the-ball incident.

Despite being a player down, Brentford defended resolutely and frustrated Villa’s attackers in the second half, with goalkeeper Caoimhín Kelleher making key saves to preserve the clean sheet.

Aston Villa struggled to break down a compact Brentford back line and lacked clear chances throughout the match, failing to score at Villa Park and leaving the home fans frustrated on a rare Sunday league fixture.

The Bees travel next to their mid-week fixture with momentum, while Villa’s manager must now address tactical issues ahead of a challenging February schedule.
