Yango Zambia says it has appealed certain findings by the Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (CCPC) following a recent review of its operations in the country.

In a statement issued in Lusaka on Wednesday, the ride-hailing company said it respectfully disagreed with aspects of the Commission’s findings but had initiated the appropriate legal appeal process in line with Zambian law.

It also affirmed that it would engage constructively with the CCPC throughout the appeal process.

The company operates a technology platform that connects passengers with independent drivers and provides tools aimed at improving driver engagement and platform efficiency, including options for drivers to select preferred working areas.

Beyond platform operations, Yango said it had invested in Zambia through community engagement, road-safety initiatives, and social-impact programmes, describing the country as a key market in its long-term strategy.

“Zambia remains an important market for Yango,” the statement read. “We remain committed to operating responsibly, transparently, and in alignment with national laws,” it added.

CCPC Monday said it investigated 19 abuse of dominance cases and 38 restrictive business practices (RBP) cases.

Notably, Yango Zambia Limited was found to have contravened the Competition and Consumer Protection Act and was ordered to pay a fine, establish a physical engagement platform for drivers, and ensure trip details are displayed on its platform.
