In celebration of International Women’s Month, Yango Zambia, part of the global tech company Yango Group, went around Lusaka to distribute hampers to women who contribute to their communities and the platform’s ecosystem.
The activity formed part of Yango’s ongoing efforts to celebrate and uplift women who play a vital role in the local economy.
The hampers were distributed at various locations across the city, with the Yango team meeting women in their workplaces and communities to personally thank them for their contributions and empower them to continue excelling.

Speaking about this activity, Kabanda Chewe, Country Head for Yango Zambia, said: “Women are at the heart of the communities we serve, and many of them are also key partners within the Yango ecosystem.
Through this initiative, we wanted to take a moment to recognise their resilience, dedication, and the important role they play in driving economic participation and supporting their families.”

The initiative saw hampers delivered to female partner drivers, delivery and food couriers, marketeers, police women, hawkers, civil servants and food delivery partners at restaurants, recognising their hard work and dedication to supporting their families and the community
Otester Selesho, a Yango partner courier who received one of the hampers, welcomed the gesture and highlighted how the platform supports women to work independently.
“Being a courier has provided a platform for me to earn a living and support my family while working at my own time and convenience. It means a lot to see companies recognising the effort women put into their work every day. This gesture from Yango shows that they appreciate and value the contribution we make.”
Another courier who received a hamper during the initiative was Fridah Mubanga, who has gained recognition on social media for documenting her experiences as a Yango partner courier for the food delivery service.
Through her TikTok content, she shares the realities of working as a courier, from daily food deliveries to interactions with customers.
Her videos quickly resonated with audiences online, helping her build a growing following and turning her into one of the most recognisable faces among Yango partner couriers in Zambia.
Before joining the platform, Mubanga worked as a fuel attendant, but she decided to explore new opportunities that would give her greater flexibility and earning potential.
“Using the Yango platform has been a good experience for me. The pro app for couriers is very easy to use and it has helped me reach a lot of my goals. I managed to buy a bicycle and even gave it to someone else so they could start working with it.” she said.
The Women’s Month initiative reflects Yango’s broader commitment to supporting the communities it operates in and recognising the individuals who contribute to the platform’s growing ecosystem.
As more women like Otester and Mubanga join the platform as partner drivers and food couriers, their stories continue to challenge stereotypes and inspire others to explore new opportunities and by recognising the contributions of women across different sectors, the company aims to highlight the importance of creating platforms and opportunities that enable women to thrive.
Their journeys highlight how technology can empower individuals, create flexible earning opportunities, and open doors for women who are determined to shape their own futures.
