Liverpool stormed into the quarter-finals of the UEFA Champions League after producing a dominant 4–0 victory over Galatasaray at Anfield on Wednesday, overturning a 1–0 first-leg deficit to win 4–1 on aggregate.
According to the BBC, a well-worked set piece brought the hosts level on aggregate when midfielder Dominik Szoboszlai struck in the first half. Moments before the break, Mohamed Salah saw his penalty saved by Galatasaray goalkeeper Ugurcan Cakir.

But manager Arne Slot’s side blew the tie open with a three-goal burst in 11 second-half minutes. Forward Hugo Ekitike tapped in from close range after an incisive Salah pass, before Ryan Gravenberch finished from a rebound following another Cakir save.
A Wilfried Singo own goal was ruled out for offside, but Salah soon delivered the moment of the night — a trademark curling strike from outside the area that found the top corner and made him the first African player to reach 50 Champions League goals.
Salah later struck the crossbar as Liverpool continued to dominate. Galatasaray, travelling without away supporters due to a UEFA sanction following disturbances in their previous away match at Juventus, offered little resistance.
The win ensures England will have two clubs in the last eight, with only Arsenal joining Liverpool after early exits for Manchester City, Chelsea, Newcastle United and Tottenham Hotspur.
Liverpool will now face reigning champions Paris Saint-Germain, managed by Luis Enrique — the side that eliminated them from the competition last season — marking Slot’s first Champions League quarter-final.
