Patriotic Front president, Miles Sampa, has announced the dissolution of the party’s Central Committee and all provincial chairmen, declaring that he is exercising powers vested in him by the party constitution and a High Court ruling.
Sampa said the move was based on the convention that took place on October 24, 2023, and article sixty-one of the PF constitution, as ratified by the High Court judgement of March 27, 2026, by High Court Judge CC Zulu.
Addressing a media briefing in Lusaka on Tuesday at his residence in Kabulonga, Sampa stated he was acting under the legal PF.
The PF leader then announced a series of new provincial appointments, with Southern Province Provincial Chairperson named as Uma Musanje. Northwestern Provincial Chairperson is Emmanuel Melekie, Luapula Province provincial chairman is Simon Luwando, and Northern Province Chairperson is Petronela Mukumbula.
“The new constitution says women should be given equal platform for leadership. I am the first to appoint a woman Chairperson,” Sampa bragged.
Further appointments included Billis Sichamba for Central Province and Krispin Kambole for Lusaka Province.
For Lusaka, which he described as his home ground, Sampa also appointed a Provincial Youth Chairperson, noting that the appointee was a man receiving a promotion within four days.
On the Central Committee, Sampa said he was president as ruled by the courts and announced Charity Katongo as National Vice Chairperson of the party.
“By powers vested in me by article 60 and 61 of the PF constitution, I have appointed Mr. Edwin Lifwekelo as Deputy Secretary General of Politics,” Sampa said.
Sampa said several other positions were being withheld pending consultations, including Vice President Administration and Vice President Political.

He also withheld appointments for National Chairperson, National Women, National Youth Chairperson, Mobilisation Chairman, and Chairman Election posts.
Addressing internal disputes, Sampa questioned how PF could appeal against itself, stating:
“How can PF appeal against PF? Because it’s PF one. Miles Sampa is PF. So I’ve seen some evidence PF as a pewed. No.”
He added that some individuals did not want to remain in PF and want the party to fail so they can join another party.
Sampa claimed the majority of them joined after PF won and were now rushing to UPND, asserting their “job was just to move from a ruling party to a ruling party.”
Sampa recalled that PF lost in 2001, 2006, 2008, and 2011, and that members even lost their jobs fighting for PF to win.
“When you start mentioning detail, they attacked me. They smashed my wife’s vehicle. They smashed my vehicle. We protected the votes,” he said.
