President Hakainde Hichilema says the government is ready to attract significant investments following the successful hosting of the Luapula Investment Exposition held at Senama Grounds in Mansa.
Hichilema, who on Friday also commissioned a 50-megawatt solar power project in Mansa, said Luapula Province was increasingly ripe for investment.
“The 2026 Luapula Expo marks a significant step toward unlocking the province’s vast economic potential,” he said as he reaffirmed the government’s commitment to fostering development and encouraging investment in sectors such as mining across the country.
He said the government was currently issuing artisanal and small-scale mining licences to promote local participation in mineral extraction.
Hichilema also acknowledged the strengthened collaboration between traditional leaders and the state in driving development nationwide.

He commended Chief Mabumba for working closely with the government to promote meaningful development in Mansa District.
Nason Musonda, the Luapula Province Minister, said the province was projected to attract more than K1 billion in investments from its abundant natural resources, with mineral wealth expected to significantly contribute to this growth.
Musamu Resources founder, Dr. Sixtus Mulenga, highlighted progress in the mining sector, saying the company has already invested more than K12 million.
He announced the firm’s first successful export of manganese to Dar es Salaam and China, signalling Luapula’s growing presence on the international mining market.
Mulenga thanked the government for its continued support, noting that favourable policies in the mining sector were helping attract investment, create jobs and transform the province’s economic landscape.
The expo was held under the theme “Unlocking Luapula’s Potential to Investment Opportunities for Sustainable Economic Growth.”
