Samukonga opens season with diamond league silver

Zambian sprint sensation, Muzala Samukonga, delivered an impressive performance at the 2026 Xiamen Diamond League opener in China after finishing second in the men’s 400 metres race with a season’s best time of 44.04 seconds.

Samukonga put up a strong challenge against a competitive field but was narrowly beaten by Botswana’s Collen Kebinatshipi, who stormed to victory in 43.92 seconds.

The result marks a positive start to the season for the Zambian athlete as he continues preparations for major international competitions later this year.

Samukonga, who has consistently established himself among the world’s top 400 metres runners, showed good form and determination in the season-opening Diamond League event.
