Chipata City Council has received K1.9 million from the Ministry of Local Government and Rural Development to facilitate the implementation of the July 2026 Revised Cash for Work Phase II Programme.

The funds will support key administrative activities, including the recruitment and verification of beneficiaries and supervision of public works, according to Chipata City Council Assistant Public Relations Officer, Grace Lungu.

In a statement issued in Chipata on Tuesday, Lungu said the funds would also support administrative activities such as attendance management, payments of beneficiaries and data entry clerks and other programme implementation activities.

She said the disbursement marked the commencement of the full implementation of the Revised Cash for Work Phase II Programme in Chipata District.

“Chipata City Council remains committed to ensuring that the approved implementation schedule is strictly adhered to and that beneficiary allocations are implemented accordingly,” Lungu stated.

She said this would promote efficient programme delivery and help prevent the accumulation of payment arrears.

Lungu assured the public that under this phase of the programme all the challenges experienced in the previous Cash for Work programme had been addressed.

“The Council further wishes to urge members of the public to cooperate with the recruitment teams and provide accurate information during the registration and verification process to ensure the successful implementation of the programme,” she said.
