The Tonse Pamodzi Alliance says it is satisfied with the physical inspection and verification of ballot materials conducted by the Electoral Commission of Zambia, ahead of the 13th August 2026 general elections.
The Alliance said the exercise was undertaken in the presence of stakeholders from participating political parties, civil society organisations and representatives of the European Union, who were the only international observers present at the time.
In a statement issued in Lusaka on Friday by Dr. Chris Zumani Zimba, Secretary General, and Celestin Mambula Mukandila Secretary General of the Tonse Pamodzi Alliance, the Alliance said two ballot boxes were opened during the verification process.
In Luapula Province, Pallet No. 92A was inspected for Mansa East Constituency, Code 01040184, at Mwanda Community School in Musaba Ward, under Ballot Box No. 5343.
In North-Western Province, Pallet No. 170A was inspected for Lumwana Constituency, Code 01080205, at Kyangozhi ECZ Church – 01 in Kibanza Ward, under Ballot Box No. 10473.
“The contents verified inside the ballot boxes included ballot paper booklets for President, Member of Parliament, Council Chairperson/Mayor and Councillor,” the Alliance said.

It stated that other materials found were GEN 20A Results Forms, Voters’ Lists, Voter Registers, Mock Ballot Paper Posters and Braille Voting Assistance Materials.
The Alliance further stated that, according to the ECZ, distribution of ballot papers to respective districts was scheduled to commence on 2nd August 2026.
It added that it observed the receipt of the first consignment of ballot papers comprising 202 pallets that arrived from Dubai through Kenneth Kaunda International Airport and escorted the consignment to the ECZ warehouse in Silverest.
The Alliance also said it observed the receipt of a second consignment comprising 185 pallets.
“Following our participation in the physical inspection and verification process, the Tonse Pamodzi Alliance is satisfied with the conduct of the exercise and appreciates the transparency demonstrated during the verification of the ballot materials,” reads the statement.
The ECZ is expected to begin dispatching ballot papers to districts next week as preparations for the August 13 general elections continue.
