Blogger Joseph Chishimba has been convicted of cyber harassment and publication of false information after he circulated a screenshot alleging that Chipo Mwanawasa was pregnant for President Hakainde Hichilema.
Principal Resident Magistrate, Idah Phiri, convicted Chishimba after ruling that the prosecution had proved its case beyond reasonable doubt.

Chishimba was charged under the Cyber Security and Cyber Crimes Act No. 2 of 2021 for allegedly using an electronic system to circulate the screenshot containing the claim, with the intention of harassing the complainant.
The court found him guilty following a trial in which the prosecution presented evidence linking him to the circulation of the screenshot.
The allegation contained in the screenshot was that Mwanawasa was pregnant for President Hichilema.
The court has scheduled sentencing for Monday.
Chishimba remains in custody pending sentencing.
The conviction follows the court’s finding that the prosecution had established the elements of the offences beyond reasonable doubt.
