More than 700 delegates from over 45 countries have gathered in Johannesburg for the four-day Music In Africa Conference for Collaborations, Exchange and Showcases (ACCES) 2026, focusing on turning music into a sustainable business.
The conference, held at The Forum, The Campus in Bryanston, has brought together artistes, record label executives, publishers, promoters and other industry players to explore ways of building sustainable careers and strengthening Africa’s creative economy.
Under the theme “Music is a Business”, this year’s edition is shifting attention from short-lived viral success to long-term growth, with discussions focusing on practical strategies for artists and music entrepreneurs.

Key topics include digital music distribution, marketing, access to finance, international market expansion and fair remuneration across the music value chain.
The daytime conference sessions, pitch events, exhibitions and masterclasses took place on October 29 and 30, while industry networking events and live performances are being held at various venues across Johannesburg.
The programme also features four ACCES Industry Nights, providing artists with opportunities to showcase their work to international promoters, booking agents and music executives.
SlikourOnLife is among the featured showcase partners, having curated performances by artists including Toss, Touchline and Mad Buddies to increase exposure for emerging and established acts.
Organisers said the conference was also prioritising stronger collaboration between African music professionals and stakeholders from North America, Europe and the African diaspora to unlock partnerships, investment and access to international markets.
Through cross-border collaboration and knowledge sharing, ACCES aims to strengthen Africa’s position in the global music industry while equipping artistes and creative entrepreneurs with the skills and opportunities needed to build sustainable careers beyond viral success.
