The Citizens First (CF) Party has expressed its willingness to work with other like-minded political parties as Zambia prepares for the 2026 general elections, following its recent exit from the United Kwacha Alliance (UKA).

CF Spokesperson, Dalitso Tembo, said the party remained committed to working for the people of Zambia and would align itself with the “highest alliance,” referring to the Zambian electorate.

“Our focus now is to mobilise and strengthen our party structures in preparation for the 2026 general elections,” Tembo told Zambia Monitor in an interview.

She emphasized that Citizens First was open to collaborating with either independent candidates or opposition parties that share its vision of serving Zambians.

Tembo confirmed that the decision to withdraw from UKA was made by the party’s Central Committee, its highest decision-making body.

Meanwhile, National Democratic Congress (NDC) leader Saboi Imboela has reaffirmed her support for CF leader, Harry Kalaba, as her preferred presidential candidate for the 2026 elections, despite his departure from UKA.

Imboela said she remained a member of the alliance and would work with its leadership to regroup and strategise for the polls.

“We are spending less time in the media for now. We need to get back to the ground, mobilise and come up with a winning formula as an alliance,” she said.

She added that the new UKA chairperson, Revamp for Development Change Party president, Robert Chansa, would need to craft a fresh strategy for mobilisation and campaigns in light of the recent developments.
